Gradus conducted a study identifying the main trends in the labor market in 2024 and determining the most in-demand professions. The Gradus Staff Index analysis provides valuable information for companies seeking to adapt to changing conditions and attract the best talent.
In 2024, the Russian labor market faced challenges. The demographic trough of the 1990s, the generation gap of the 1960s and 2000s, as well as natural population decline led to a reduction in the working-age population. This, in turn, increased the shortage of personnel, especially in linear professions and technical specialties. The record low unemployment rate of 2.4% in September became one of the key characteristics of the year, intensifying competition for skilled workers.
Developing sectors related to import substitution, warehouse logistics and e-commerce are showing steady growth. For example, in 2024, more than 1.5 million square meters of warehouse real estate were commissioned, which led to a 2.5-fold increase in vacancies in the retail, e-commerce and FMCG sectors.
Anton Lutsevich, Director of Outsourcing Development at Gradus, noted: “2024 was a turning point for many industries. Businesses actively adapted to the challenges, raising rates and digitalizing hiring processes.”
